Buddhadev was born in 1976. He completed his graduation with an M.F.A in Printmaking from M.S. University Baroda and a B.F.A. in Painting from Vishva – Bharati University, Shantiniketan. His latest exhibitions include group shows at the Made in Art Gallery Pondicherry (2009), Sarjan Art Gallery (2009), HUB in Baroda (2009), TSAR Art Gallery in Mumbai (2009), as well as in Triveni Art Gallery in New Delhi (2009).

In the artist’s words: ‘As an artist, I feel I am part of a larger society which is not bound by any specific definition. My works are personal interpretations of the underlying basic human instincts that remain unchanged through different time periods. In my works I am trying to represent the dark side of human relationships through a humorous language.’

Uday Mondal was born in 1976 in Kolkata. He completed his graduation in Fine Arts in 1999 from Indian Art College, Kolkata and his Masters degree in 2002 from Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda. He has held solo exhibitions at Gallery Beyond, Mumbai (2006), Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (2005) and Sarjan Art Gallery, Baroda (2001).

He has also participated in several group shows and art camps in India and abroad—‘Summer Show’ 2008, 07, 06, ‘Reality Bytes’ three man show, 2007, CIMA Art Gallery, Kolkata;  ‘Spandan IV’ 2009, 08 Gallery Articulate, Yash Birla Group, Mumbai;  ‘Synchrome 4’ 2007  Tao Art Gallery, Mumbai and Akar Prakar, Kolkata;  ‘Emerging India’ 2008  Henry Moore Gallery, London by Art Alive Gallery, Delhi;  ‘Singapore Art Fest’ 2007 Singapore—to name a few. Sudip Dutta was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, in 1975. He completed his Diploma in Fine Arts (Painting) from M.S. University, Vadodara, in 2000 and his Post-Diploma in Fine Arts, ) from M.S. University, Vadodara, in 2002. Shadow - Watercolor on Paper

Sandip Daptri was born in Beherampur, West Bengal in 1976. After completing a Bachelors degree in painting from the Baroda Faculty of Fine Arts, Sandip went on to do his masters in Graphics (at the same University), an intentional shift that helped him in development of his drawing techniques. The experience of working in graphics added perspective to the artists work. Strong rendering and drawing is evident in his paintings. After having done a lot of etching in his postgraduate years, Sandip eventually shifted back to painting.

His recent paintings are a study on child psychology and these works show keen sense of balance in terms of colour, space and movement. A fluidity of thought is abound. Though the process of beginning a work or rather putting the images and ideas on to the canvas is a rather slow one, spontaneous creativity is revealed in the way in which Sandip begins his work with just a single image and then slowly builds up the entire surface. In some works the artist divides space very obviously by demarking it into two and working upon two individual objects and areas, whereas in other works the division of space is less obvious. Using acrylic and watercolours, the artist is always open to experimentation, and he plans to use both oil and acrylic on the same surface in order to add to the dimension of the flat surface.

He has painted in various solo and group exhibitions in India and abroad–’Moments’, Annat Art, Kolkata, 2009,  ‘Cutting Chai’, Sarjan Art Gallery, Vadodara, 2009,  ‘Indian Contemporary Art’, Art World, Singapore, 2006—to name a few. Sandip Daptri continues to paint dreams woven in reality.

Mayur Gupta completed his post graduation in sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda 1989. He received the Charles Wallace India Trust Award Fellowship to U.K in 1996-97. He is also the recipient of the Gujarat Lalit Kala Academy Award, Ahmedabad(1986).

He has participated in numerous art camps and shown his work in prominent galleries all over the country as well as in the UK. The earlier works were reflections of his dreams and fantasies. Mayur’s recent works talk about his environment and his sensitivity. Sourcing of antique objects is a hobby. Mayur’s journey begins with the search for these objects and ends in its manifestation. All these objects when recreated and sculpted are a part of an integral part of the artist’s oeuvre and personality.

He has also completed his M.A. in Painting from the Royal College of Arts, London. Sanjib Saha was born in Kolkata in 1970. An alumnus of the Government college of Art and Craft, Kolkata, Sanjib works with the concept of light and shadow; texture and colour and tries to bring to life an architectural heritage long forgotten. He has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in various cities of India – New Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore, amongst others – and has carved a niche for himself in the world of art.

Unknown Beauty - Oil and Acrylic on Canvas

Bakulesh Joshi was born in Kathlal, Gujarat in 1967. He has completed his B. A. (Fine) Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University of Baroda, Vadodara. Bakulesh draws heavily upon and vividly transfers from the existing environs of his work place; paints and draws some telling images on canvas relying on his keen observation.

The theme of most of his paintings, life in the midst of mechanical desolation – is greatly influenced by the quaint co–existence between man-made industrial plant machinery or scrap and plant and animal life in its midst. Striking colors delineate the junkyard of the factory in which he works. Junk always invariably symbolizes static, catabolic, lifelessness. However, the colors in his paintings simulate rejuvenation for the natural growth which occurs during monsoons. The artist feels happy and excited when he witnesses this kind of unexpected life.

A life member of the Bombay Art Society, Bakulesh has participated in several solo and group exhibitions, notable among them, a group show by eleven artists at Kaleidoscope Gallery of contemporary Art, Baroda in 2006 and a Duo show at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai in 2000. His works can be found with leading collectors in India and abroad.

The artist currently lives and works in Vadodara.

Asit Kumar Patnaik was born in Orissa in 1968. A National Scholar and MFA topper from BHU, he has received several provincial and national awards, the latest being a grand felicitation from the Government College of Art and Crafts, his alma mater in Khalikote, Orissa.  A semi-realistic figurative painter, Patnaik has enjoyed much critical acclaim and popular appreciation over the past few years.

Best known for his “Relations” series that revolves around a semi-clad male and female figure captured in a series of complex , multiple and open ended postures, Patnaik has graced several solo and major group shows in India and abroad—Indian strokes (a myriad of art) sponsored by Khushi, 2008, ‘The Sacred’ a group show Sponsored by Galleria at  Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre, 2008 and COLORS – 2007,  Modern & Contemporary Indian Art Show presented by Gallery Art land at Majestic Hotel Tower, Dubai , 2007—to name a few.

Patnaik’s works can be found in several private and public collections in India, USA, UK, South Korea, UAE, Australia, Bangladesh South Africa and Switzerland, including that of the President of India.

The artist currently lives and works in New Delhi.
